The Premise.

Times change and people grow. From war blooms peace and prosperity; from a time of constant vigilance and violence comes forth an era nurtured and protected by its past to walk a road that can only head towards a brighter future. Twenty-five years after the war while their parents are off correcting past errors, the children are out and about creating new ones.

Harry Potter is still revered as a hero, as the one who defeated the Dark Lord but as the denizens no longer lived in dark times, he’s seen more as the man who revolutionized the Auror Department at the Ministry. Still, his legend lives on, though his life is no longer the focus of the wizarding world. The Ministry for Magic has also cleaned up its corrupted lines and now focuses on promoting the welfare of the people as led by Percy Weasley.

Welcome to the year 2023. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry still stands strong and stable as the day it was built and always as magical. Children of the previous generation are the ones that run the school now, pranks have gotten more devious, and competition has only increased. Allies and enemies are formed left and right and while House loyalties are still as strong as ever, the strongest rivalries exist elsewhere.

The Journals. As a part of updating the old fashioned form of schooling, the Hogwarts’s Headmistress McGonagall saw that communication was the key to developing a strong educational community. A new Journal was part of every list of schoolbooks to be bought for the year and the students are required to maintain and write an entry of some sort every week into their Journals as part of their communication credit. Entries can be anything from a summary of daily routine, thoughts regarding the world or social circles, a statement that would ignite discussion to a private entry viewable only to a few people. The magic in the Journals will still take note that something has been written in it for that week.

Interhouse Challenges. Intense House rivalries have been seen since near the beginning of Hogwarts, while competition between students is healthy, the enmity between Houses has turned to near hatred. To combat this, the Headmistress and her staff of professors have designed and implemented a series of monthly Challenges to be completed by inter-House teams, which will force the students to work with each other. The winners of each month will enjoy added luxuries, which can range from extended privileges to material gains.

The teams? Students from First to Fourth years make up the Junior half while students from Fifth to Seventh make up the Senior half. Exactly two students from each house, one boy and one girl picked at random will join with the six other students picked from the other houses and form one Team together. As a team they must elect a Team leader and utilize the best of each other’s skills to grab a win. Those reluctant members of the team will be the responsibility of the other enthusiastic members because after all, who likes sitting dead last on a list anyways?

The teams will be picked at random; a week after the school year has commenced. Participation from the teams are mandatory, the success of the teams however, will depend on its members.

The Challenges? Will utilize various skills from the students that can range from athletics, wits, hunts or possibly even theory and practical application. Each Professor will be responsible for designing or collaborating with each Challenge. Teams will be told about each challenge at the same time and be given approximately a week or two to complete them.
